Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (R.A.) was one of the most respected companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ — known for his unwavering devotion, humility, and deep love for the Sunnah. He was the son of Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (R.A.), the second Caliph of Islam, and among the earliest to embrace Islam in his youth.
🌙 His Early Life and Acceptance of Islam
Born into one of the noblest families in Makkah, Abdullah ibn Umar (R.A.) grew up witnessing the truth of Islam from his father. He accepted Islam at a very young age and soon became known for his dedication to following every command of the Prophet ﷺ with exactness and sincerity.
When the Muslims migrated to Madinah, he was among the youth who dedicated themselves fully to the service of Islam.

Though he was too young to fight in the early battles like Badr and Uhud, he later became a brave soldier of Islam, participating in major campaigns alongside the Prophet ﷺ and the rightly guided Caliphs.

🕋 His Devotion to Sunnah
Hazrat Ibn Umar (R.A.) was famous for his remarkable love for the Sunnah. He would imitate every act of the Prophet ﷺ — even in small details. If the Prophet ﷺ prayed at a certain spot, he too would pray there. If the Prophet ﷺ traveled a certain path, he would walk the same route.
His devotion wasn’t mere imitation — it was love, respect, and sincerity toward the Prophet ﷺ’s example.

💚 His Knowledge and Teaching
He was a great scholar of Hadith and Fiqh. More than 2,600 Hadith were narrated through him — making him one of the **most prolific narrators** of Hadith in Islamic history. His students included great scholars like Nafi’ and Mujahid, who preserved his teachings for future generations.
He was also known for his fairness in judgment and his strong stand for justice and truth.

Despite being the son of a Caliph and a leading scholar, Abdullah ibn Umar (R.A.) lived a life of humility and simplicity. He avoided power and politics, choosing instead a quiet life of worship, fasting, and remembrance of Allah. He was known for his generosity — always feeding the poor and freeing slaves in the path of Allah.

He was known to spend long nights in Tahajjud prayer, often weeping when reciting the Qur’an. His heart was soft, full of love for Allah, and fear of disobeying Him. He once said, “If the world were worth even a fly’s wing to Allah, He would not give a disbeliever a sip of water from it.”
🌟 His Death and Legacy
Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (R.A.) passed away in Makkah around 73 AH. His entire life was a reflection of sincerity, devotion, and love for the Prophet ﷺ. His narrations of Hadith and example of piety continue to guide Muslims even today.
“Be in this world as a stranger or a traveler.” – Advice of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar (R.A.)
