Hazrat Zayd ibn Haritha (R.A.) was one of the most beloved companions of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). He is the only Companion mentioned by name directly in the Qur'an. He was known for his loyalty, bravery, and closeness to the Prophet (ﷺ).
Early Life
Zayd (R.A.) was captured in childhood and later reached the household of Khadijah (R.A.). She gifted him to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), who freed him instantly.
The Prophet (ﷺ) treated him like a son—so much that he became known as Zayd ibn Muhammad before the Qur'anic law of adoption was revealed.
His Faith and Devotion
Zayd (R.A.) was one of the earliest people to embrace Islam. He accepted Islam even before Abu Bakr (R.A.). His loyalty to the Prophet (ﷺ) was unmatched, and he supported him through difficult times.
Leadership in Battles
He was appointed commander in several major battles. The Prophet (ﷺ) trusted him so much that he made Zayd (R.A.) the commander of the Muslim army in the Battle of Mu'tah.
Martyrdom
Zayd (R.A.) embraced martyrdom in the Battle of Mu'tah in 629 CE. He fought bravely until the last moment. His sacrifice is remembered as an example of courage and faith.
Legacy
Zayd (R.A.) is remembered as a symbol of loyalty, bravery, and love for the Prophet (ﷺ). His son, Usama ibn Zayd (R.A.), was also a famous Companion and a respected commander of the Muslim army.
May Allah be pleased with Hazrat Zayd ibn Haritha (R.A.).
